ILIOS DE RHODES  

ILIOS a wonderful white dry VQPRD wine is produced from the fine local variety Athiri. The moisture, the soil and the beneficial northwesterly winds favor the production of qualitative grapes offering this superb wine.
Characterized by a bright yellow color and a  fine aroma. It has a balanced taste and  pleasant  lasting  aftertaste. ILIOS with  its standard  supreme quality over the years holds  the   first place in the preference of the foreign visitors that come to Rhodes.  Enjoy it at 8 - 10 °C with white meat or seafood.

CHEVALIER DE RHODES

Chevalier de Rhodes is a red dry VQPRD wine produced from the selected grapes of the Mandilaria variety.

It is cultivated in strictly bordered  VQPRD zones situated in the northwestern side of the island, where moisture and the rich in calcium and clay content soil favors the perfect combination of production and quality of Mandilaria  grapes.

Characterized by a royal purple color and rich aromas of spices and ripen red fruits. It  has rounded taste and excellent aftertaste that lasts. Served at 16 - 18 °C with red meat, game and dishes with red sauce.

RETSINA

The famous Retsina Cair is a white dry resinated wine named by tradition produced from the grapes of the fine local variety Athiri .

Its splendid quality and wonderful taste makes it very popular not only in the local market but also abroad where it is exported in large quantities.

Characterized by a light yellow color and a distinct natural aroma from pine trees that blends perfectly with the fine aroma from the Athiri . It has a  soft taste with characteristic aftertaste.

Served chilled, accompanies feta cheese and most mezedes (starter dishes) of the Greek cuisine.

BRIEF  DESCRIPTION  OF  OUR  WIDELY KNOWN  PRODUCTS

ILIOS
It is a white dry VQPRD wine, of the "Athiri" variety cultivated   on the  highlands  of  Rhodes.  It  has  a  clear  yellowgreen  colour,  discrete aromas of fruits ( melon orange and dried fruits) and honey. Taste with a sweet feeling in the beginning, balanced acidity and long durable aftertaste.

CHEVALIER DE RHODES
A red dry VQPRD wine, of the "Mandilaria" variety with a deep red colour, rich  aroma  of  spices and fruits, giving a full taste and  long aftertaste.  

PLATONI
A table wine (white, rose, red) of the "Athiri" and "Mandilaria"  varieties, with a  fresh  fruity  aroma,  rich  body  and  well  proportioned  sweetness  giving a wonderful taste.

MOULIN
A table wine (white, rose, red, dry and semi-dry) of the finest quality from varieties like Athiri, Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Rouge and Mandilaria.  The result is a mixture of fresh fruity wild strawberry and cherry aromas, velvet taste and a strong aromatic aftertaste.

RODOS 24OO
A white dry VQPRD wine of the "Athiri" variety with a charming goldgreen colour. Strong aromas of exotic fruits, flowers and honey It gives a sweet feeling in the beginning with a refreshing acidity that balances  the taste and a long clear aftertaste reminding the fruity aromas.

ARCHONTIKO
A red dry wine of quality varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache rouge,.  Strong red -- color,  aromas of spices, wood, vanilia and a rich old bouquet with a velvet taste.

RETSINA
A  white dry resinated wine, traditionally of the "Athiri" variety  with a characteristic resina aroma, light tast giving a particular aftertaste.

MUSCAT DE RHODES
A white sweet VQPRD wine (vin de liqueur) of the "Moschato" variety with a golden colour, rich aroma of roses and a pleasant full taste.

AMANDIA
A red sweet wine (vin de liqueur) of the "Mandilaria" variety with a deep red colour, rich aroma of dry fruits old bouquet and full taste.

CAIR BRUT  &  CAIR DEMI-SEC
A natural sparkling wine (Brut, Demi-sec) of the "Athiri" variety. Produced with the traditional French methode fermentated and matured in the bottle of low temperature in cellars for at least 18 months,acquiring, thus freshness fruity aromas and a rich body, which make it unique. Available in two types : the Brut (Full Dry) and the Demi-sec  (Half-dry).  It has approximately 12-13% alc.vol.

DODECANISIAKOS White Dry
Soft green-yellow color with discrete fruity aromas, produced from the Athiri variety. Taste with a sweet feeling in the beginning with balanced acidity and long durable aftertaste. Served with starter dishes, fish, oysters.

DODECANISIAKOS Red Dry
Intense red color with fine aromas of red fruits. It has a balanced tasted with the characteristic tannins from the Mandilaria variety. Accompanies harmoniously red meat dishes especially traditional Greek dishes with lamb.

  HISTORY  OF  C.A.I.R.   S.A.

RODOS :  The  island  of  sun  is  well  known  throughout  the  world, not only for  its  natural  beauties  and  historical  sites,  but  also  for  its  superior wine.  Amphoras, dating from many centuries  ago and  other  archaelogical  findings  depicting   grapes, give  evidence  of  the  history  of  Rodian  wine.

The   vineyards  cover  the  Central -Western  mountainous region of the island at an altitude that reaches up to 6OO meters. The altitude, soil,  orientation of the vineyards and the microclimate enables the successful cultivation of marvellous grape varieties such as the white  "Athiri"  and  the  red  "Mandilaria"

In 1990 new varieties were introduced such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Rouge which  are  grown  on   CAIR's  own  vineyards.

CAIR  has  kept alive the tradition of so many years, creating a wide range of bottled   wines   of   excellent  quality;   a  quality  that  has  won  awards  and recognition  in  many  international  competitions.
